A finely carved Japanese walrus ivory figural group from the Meiji period, standing 28.5 cm high and weighing 544 g. The composition is arranged vertically around a rocky base and depicts a lively group of figures, with an adult supporting children above and around him, several of them carrying baskets and small objects. The carving is richly detailed, particularly in the expressive faces, hairstyles, hands, garments and accessories, while the robes are decorated with finely incised geometric and floral motifs highlighted with dark pigment. The tall, compact arrangement and carefully balanced grouping give the piece a strong sculptural presence from every angle. The warm natural tone of the walrus ivory is complemented by subtle age-related patination and minor surface wear, enhancing the character of the carving. A decorative and highly detailed example of Japanese Meiji-period export art, offered with a 100% guarantee of authenticity and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. No CITES certificate is required.
